We needed this product ahead of our departure on a three week break in our newly acquired camper on Sunday 14th December. After calling RVAppliances on the 1st December to check if the product was in stock and would arrive in time, they said they would call back the following morning to confirm. They never called back, so after many failed calls to the 0800 number which failed to connect, I finally reached them mid afternoon and was assured that the products would ship next day from order, and would arrive by the end of the week (5 Dec). Although there would be a $50 shipping surcharge for shipping to a rural address in the south island. Fine. I placed the order, and awaited payment details for the shipping surcharge. Again - multiple calls, messages & emails unanswered, now getting nervous. Finally received the shipping surcharge invoice on 3rd Dec which was paid same day. For the next few days received no communication at all. I made several calls & texts (which went unanswered) trying to ascertain why I had not yet received shipping notification. Finally managed to get them on the phone on 9 Dec to be told their supplier had "not sent them a part"(?) and it hadn't shipped yet! At this stage we put a backup plan into action, paying to have a temporary receiver sleeve welded under the back step of the van to take an adapted tow bar bike carrier, as it seemed pretty unlikely that RVAppliances were going to deliver on time. Sure enough - we finally received shipping notification on Thursday 11 Dec at 4pm that the parcel had been dispatched. Great. There's no way that was going to arrive on time for our scheduled Sunday departure. Gutted. The parcel arrived after we left home. All in all a bad experience, poor communication, and a lot of stress and additional costs incurred to implement a temporary solution and ship the Fiamma carrier back up to Whangarei so that it could be mounted for the remainder of our holiday. Would not recommend based on this experience.
Oh yes - the Fiamma carrier works well. Tricky installation, took a couple of hours assembling & nervously measuring multiple times before drilling multiple holes in the back of the van!
